This week we will hear from new member Lisa Jones. Lisa owns and operates the Barber Stop in downtown Evergreen. She will talk about her “haircuts 4 hope.” Come hear about this program and congratulate Lisa for her service to our community.
You have heard the expression “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” I have experienced this firsthand. As you probably know, in May I had a bad fall on our steps. I have recovered from the two brain injuries that resulted as well as a banged-up shoulder. The incident leaves me dependent on an oxygen supply machine. The machine is not portable, so I am literally tied to a fifty foot cord. It makes me house bound. The thing I miss most is the ability to attend Rotary. I took for granted the joy of association with my Rotary friends. Thanks to Denis and Chris for getting zoom working, but it is no substitute for being there with all of you. I bring this up because attendance has been low lately. Please come to our meetings. The camaraderie is worth the effort.
Last week was our annual RYLA meeting. It is always inspirational to hear the youngsters tell us that the experience literally changed their lives. Thanks Judi, you did it again. Back in 2001 when we were a brand-new club looking for a way to make a difference, charter members, Bill Dickson, Nan and Bob Z told us about RYLA. We voted to send some local kids to RYLA . Since that meeting in 2001 we have sent nearly 200 youngsters to RYLA and then listened to their accounts of lives changed.
Time to start preparation for our membership night…September 18th. Who do you know that would make a fine Rotarian?
