Annual Ice Melt Contest
The barrel contest idea came while visiting the Summit County Rotary Club in Dillon which had been doing an Ice Melt contest for a number of years.  Several members of the Mountain Foothills Rotary Club, who recognized a good idea when they saw one, decided this would be a good fundraiser for our club.  And in the true sense of Rotary R&D (ripoff & duplicate) with a lot of help from local sponsors and members, the first Annual Ice Melt Contest started on December 31, 2006 in conjunction with the Skate the Lake event in Evergreen.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets are returned to the Evergreen community via The Mountain Foothills Rotary Foundation, Evergreen Christian Outreach (EChO), and INSPIRE (Formerly Special Needs) Program.
  • Prizes are as follows: 1st prize - $1,000, 2nd prize - $500, 3rd prize - $250, 4th prize - $125.
  • On your ticket you are asked to predict the date and time the barrel drops into the lake.  As a tie breaker, you are asked to predict the temperature.
  • Tickets are tax deductible.
  • Contest closes at the end of the day on March 17 or later if announced (before if the Barrel looks as if it is going to fall). Tickets must be in the hands of a Rotarian by that time, otherwise, they cannot be accepted.
  • Decision of judges is final.
