THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Similarly when President Reagan died, the country remembered
the good that he did and the correctness of his leadership. Certainly the percent of those who were
positive about his two terms exceeded the positive support he experienced at
the time.
Of course, the finality of death lends itself to praise, but
I also think that the leadership of the two Presidents is viewed today in a
much broader context because of the passing of time. Today we live in a
short-term 24/7 world where reaction trumps reflection.
As Rotarians we have a pretty broad view of the world with
the goal of the advancement of international understanding and world peace
through a world fellowship of business and professional persons. Yet, we also
focus on the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. Rotary has prospered for just less than 102
years. This is testimony that its view of the world is valid and on target.
It’s true that any view is dependent upon where the viewer
sits. From where I sit, the view as a Mountain Foothills Rotarian is pretty
good.
